Dunwoody restaurant manager leads push for automatic gratuities

Miami Herald, News, 10/31/06, by Bridget Carey

Servers make pitch for bigger tips

From the story:
Yakup Ulutas, manager of a restaurant in Dunwoody, Ga., sees it differently. He doesn't see tipping improving. As founder of fairtip.org, he has made several television and radio appearences in his grass-roots push for restaurants to require customers pay a 20 percent tip, with the ability to leave more.

I found an earlier AP story from 09/12/06 on Townhall.com:

Yakup Ulutas, general manager of Cafe Intermezzo in Dunwoody, Ga., and the founder of Fairtip.org, shows off some of the signature deserts at the cafe Monday, Sept. 6, 2006. To help level the playing field of compensation for restaurant servers Ulutas, a 36-year-old former waiter, founded a nonprofit organization, Fairtip.org, which is calling for restaurants to add an automatic 20 percent service fee to every check.
