Austin Elementary treehouse update and background

Dunwoody Crier, Front, 09/12/06, by Cathy Cobbs

Stalled treehouse project back on track?

From the story:
It started with Austin Elementary School's desire to give back to the community. It became stalled for than three years, immersed in county politics amid questions about how to handle private donations designated for construction or repair of structures on publicly owned lands.

It became further entrenched after it was discovered that the land in the proposed location was mainly comprised of silt, which called for the construction of major footings. Now, after years of legal wrangling and behind-the-scenes arm twisting, it looks like Dunwoody Nature Center will finally get its tree house.
